Bio

Amy Friend was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She spent a number years in Toronto, where she studied briefly at the Ontario College of Art and Design before embarking on intermittent travels through Europe, Morocco, Cuba, and the United States. Amy holds a BFA Honors Degree and BEd from York University. She completed her MFA Degree from the University of Windsor in 2008 where she has received a Social Science and Humanities Grant as well as an Ontario Graduate Scholarship.

Her work has been exhibited at several contemporary galleries including, PEAK Gallery (Toronto), 1313 (Toronto), Propeller Gallery (Toronto), Artcite (Windsor), and the Art Gallery of Windsor. In 2008 she was selected for the Magenta Flash Forward Emerging Photography Competition. In the Fall of 2009 Amy will exhibit a series of photographs in Camaguey, Cuba titled Agua de Noche. She is currently teaching at Brock University and the University of Windsor.
